As ADFEST wraps up another year of award shows, talks, and networking, we look at China’s presence at the festival. China ranked within the top five countries in terms of the number of delegates attending. Shanghai as a city also ranked in the top five in terms of the number of submissions.
China’s most awarded creative at Cannes Festival of Creativity last year, Adams Fan, Founder and COO of F5 in Shanghai spoke on the rise of AI in China. Fan spoke about how Chinese brands are using tech to push creative boundaries.
From MPC Shanghai’s team, SFX supervisor, Barry Greaves spoke from his years of experience in post-production in a talk titled “Digital Darwinism: Bringing the next level of character creation to advertising”.
Helene Wei Huber, Senior Planner from McCann Worldgroup China, also participated in a talk with two other emerging leaders in the advertising industry. The talk entitled “All Guts No Glory”, focused on how the next generation of creatives are shaking things up and approaching work in a different way.

McCann Worldgroup, Shanghai for Chevorlet’s The Hunt Alone won a silver in cinematography and a silver for original music score.

Cheil Beijing was a finalist in animation in-camera (digital) for the comical Hot Pot Hero for Gangtai. The agency also won a bronze for “The Girl in the Mask” campaign for Operation Smile under the category Public Service and Cause Appeals (Film).
