1.Longest you have been away from home?

I went to Toronto to study in 2011, starting the “far from home” chapter of my life.

2. Coolest place you’ve travelled to?

Probably Everest base camp. The oxygen was so low that it was difficult to breathe and move. It was literally the “Coolest place”. I wanted to have a sense of ritual. As a graffiti artist, I felt I needed to leave a tag in this place, but I did not want to destroy the environment, and the spray paint pressure was also very strange. Finally, I chose to write the tag on a board and hold it for a group photo. “If you don’t count the graffiti on the plane, this is probably the highest tag on Earth,” as my friends joked. Looking back, it was really silly.

3. What you wanted to be when you grew up?

Fortunately, when I was growing up there were a lot of amazing foreign animation works, in China Shanghai Art Film Studio was also doing great job. Since childhood, I have been surrounded by fantastic animation, and I have always dreamed of working in this field. Until I graduated from high school, I chose to go to the Animation School of Zhejiang Media. Although my dream did not come true in the end, it has always exerted a subtle influence on my graffiti style.

4. One thing that always makes you happy and one thing that always makes you sad?

As with many artists, the two can be the same thing, namely creation. In the process of artistic style exploration and creation, I always encounter boundaries. Every time it happens, I  feel very frustrated and then experience a plateau sort of period. But when mustering up the courage to try again, I’m always excited to find breakthrough.  And in the long creative career, such bondage and breakthrough is non-stop cycle.

5. Your main strength as a creative person?

I wouldn’t say a strength, more of a quality, characteristic. I’m a creator who doesn’t want to be tied down by style. I think most of the time, when people talk about style, they’re talking about form. True style should not be influenced by form. Just like art is not supposed to be defined, once defined, someone will break it. In my creative process, when I realize that I have come to rely on a form, I remind myself to step out and look at it from a third-person perspective. The advantage is that you can always learn a lot of new things in this process and have a deeper thinking. The disadvantage is that the style is not fixed. But I believe in all forms It all adds up to a true style.
