Director 导演

Dongfeng, born in 1993, currently based in Shanghai.

At present, he mainly shoots short films, fashion and apparel category, he also directs commercial films.

东风，93年，base上海。

目前主要做服装、时尚类短片。同时也在做各类tvc的导演工作。

Dongfeng first started with editing, then photography and gradually came to directing, which is his main focus now. He actually studied Land Resource Management, and didn’t have the chance to work in a production company after graduation. All the knowledge and skills he acquired studying on his own. For the past two and a half years he’s been a freelance director. In his spare time Dongfeng watches movies, studies local and foreign advertising works. He draws inspiration from nature, and expands his creative thinking through communication with friends from the industry.

最早是做剪辑，后来接触摄影、导演工作。目前主要以导演工作为主。不是科班出身，大学本科专业是土地资源管理。毕业后也没能进入专业的影视广告公司，这个行业的知识和技术，主要通过自学，自己摸索。目前自由职业两年半。闲暇时候会看看电影，会关注国内外同行的作品。接下来准备多出去走走，多跟同行的朋友聊聊天，拓展思路。也多去看看大自然的风景，找找灵感。

1. Where were you born? 你在哪里出生？

I was born in Suzhou, Anhui Province, in a tiny village mostly nobody knows. In my home, agriculture is the main source of economic growth. The village is surrounded by fields of crops,

and the scenery was good when the crops were ripening. When I was a kid, I always waited for the harvesting season, that’s the busies, liveliest the village gets, almost like during Spring Festival. I liked to act like a grownup and also participate in works: I harvested wheat in the field, carried watermelons, dried grains in the sun. But most of all, I liked driving a tractor. Everybody in the village was surprised to see a ten-years old driving a tractor. We didn’t have cameras at that time, would’ve been such a cool shot. Of course, my dad was sitting next to me, so it wasn’t dangerous. The only dangerous time was when I was driving a tractor at night with my aunt, and ran over someone’s haystack. All of my memories of harvest season stop at primary school, because later I could not participate due to study, and then every harvest time I wasn’t at home.

When the wheat is young, the whole field looks like a big lawn. A friend from out of town came to my house before, and she asked me if it was grass.

我出生在安徽宿州，一个不知名的小地方的小村子里。平原地带，经济来源主要以农业为主。村子周围都是庄稼地，庄稼快成熟的季节风景还不错，也是村里最热闹的时候。小时候会很期待收庄稼，村里的热闹景象仅次于春节。自己也可以当个小大人，参与劳作，比如去田地割麦子，搬西瓜，晒粮食，不过我最喜欢的是开拖拉机去田里拉庄稼，大概10岁左右吧，村里人都会很惊讶的看着一个小朋友在开拖拉机，那时候家里没有相机，如果当时有拍下来的话，应该是很酷的画面。当然，我爸爸大都会坐在我旁边，基本没啥危险。唯一一次出了状况，是我和我姨哥一起晚上开的拖拉机，我撞倒了别人家的草垛。对于收庄稼的印象，我一直还停留在我读小学的时候，因为后来读初中以后，就很少参与了，再到后来，收庄稼的时候我基本都不在家了。麦子刚长出苗的时候，整片田野会像是一个大草坪。之前有外地的朋友去我家，她问我那些那是不是草。

2. Coolest place you’ve been sent for work ? 工作中去过的最有意思的地方是哪里？

Siguniang Mountain, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture

We set out from Shanghai in the summer, traveling comfortably with aircon, then arrived to the hotel in the mountains with heating. In one day, I experienced two seasons, summer and winter. It was cold, but the scenery was beautiful, a bit like a scene from the movie Heidi. Along the way is very high and very narrow winding mountain road, and I got seriously car sick. In the middle, there was a section of mountain road that was foggy and many cars stopped by the side of the road. But we continued on and passed through a tunnel about 5 minutes by car. Then the sun came out, and it was miraculous, fantastic scenery and such a weather change.

我们是夏天从上海出发的，在上海我们吹着冷空调，到了那边的山下的酒店，酒店里供暖。一天内，体验了夏天和冬天两个季节。天气很冷，但是风景很美，有点像是电影《海蒂与爷爷》里的场景。沿途是很高很窄的盘山公路，很曲折很壮光，也很让人头晕，当时晕车挺严重的。中间有一段山路雾很大，很多车都停在了路边，但是我们继续前行，通过一个大概5分钟车程的隧道，然后就出了大太阳，眼光刺眼，匪夷所思，天气比较多变，很神奇。

3. Favorite movie of all time? 有史以来你最喜欢的电影是哪一部？

《The Dark Knight》

I’m a bit of a tech geek, and Nolan’s films camera movements and visual effects are very extreme. I also like the way he tells stories, which is to break the original story structure, recombine, rearrange, double-line narrative or multi-line narrative. The suspense is done very well, the film is mind-blowing, but also eye-catching. And the sound effects of his movies are top-notch, loud, like a punch coming over.

我个人比较“技术宅”，诺兰的电影，运镜和视觉效果都做的非常极致，还有他讲故事的方式个人很喜欢，把原本的故事结构打碎，重新组合，重新排列，双线叙事或者多线条叙事。把悬念呢做的很好，片子很烧脑，也吸引眼球。还有就是他电影的音效都会给的很顶，掷地有声，像是一记重拳打过来。

4. The best way to destress? 对你来说，最好的减压方式是什么？

Sleep and exercise. In my industry, you often stay up late, especially in a city like Shanghai, where you can be contacted by someone at midnight. Whenever I have time, my first choice is to catch up on some sleep. Sports bring the most direct change to people’s mental outlook, making people more excited and optimistic. I play basketball with my friends, and sometimes I run by myself.

睡觉和运动。我们这个行业经常熬夜，尤其在上海这样的城市，可能凌晨12点还会有人找你对接工作。只要空下来我首选的是去补觉。运动会给人精神面貌带来最直接的改变，让人更兴奋更乐观起来。我会和朋友打打篮球，也有时自己跑跑步。

5. One thing that always makes you happy and one thing that always makes you sad? 一件总让你感到快乐和另一件总让你很难过的事是什么？

Work makes me happy. I get excited when I take a shot that I haven’t done before, or try new editing techniques, visual effects, and when I come up with a great idea. What makes me sad is also work. Sometimes work takes up too much of my time, leaving no time for life, entertainment and recharge. A recent joke has it that freelancers in our industry are anxious about living too much, and anxious about living too little. The other thing is that what we do now is kind of a service industry, half of it is making movies, half of it is serving customers, communicating with customers. It’s a battle. Sometimes the customer’s opinion will spoil the aesthetic of the film. And repeated revisions are often a headache.

工作让我快乐，拍到之前没拍过的镜头，用之前没用过的剪辑技巧、视觉效果，想出一个不错的创意，都会让我兴奋。让我难过的也是工作，工作有时候占据了我太多时间，以至于没时间生活，没时间娱乐，没时间去充电。最近有段子说我们这个行业的自由职业者，活多会焦虑，活少也会焦虑。还有就是我们现在做的工作算是服务行业，一半在是做片子本身，还有一半是服务客户，跟客户沟通，battle。有时候客户的意见会破坏的片子的审美。还有反复的修改经常让人头疼。
