Tan Xuan 谭轩

Illustration artist 插画艺术家

Tan Xuan, Illustrator, currently lives in Shenzhen.

Graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, department of illustration. Tanxuanstudio specializes in art creation and commercial commissions, with more than 10 years of experience in painting, illustration and wall painting.

Tanxuan has collaborated mainly with companies in retail and commercial real estate. He has participated in urban renewal, science and technology center, art ancient town and other similar projects. Most of our customers are located in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. He has been invited to participate in Shenzhen Cultural Expo, Shenzhen Fringe Festival, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Architecture Biennale, and has had multiple solo exhibitions.

插画艺术家，现居深圳。

毕业于广州美术学院版画系插画专业。工作室Tanxuanstudio涵盖艺术创作及商业委托，艺术创作以绘画、插画和墙绘为主，有超10年的商业创作经验，能满足各种媒介与题材的商业绘画需求。

合作行业以餐饮、零售、商业地产居多，多次参与城市更新、科技中心、艺术古镇等项目，客户多位于北京、上海、广州、深圳、香港。曾受邀参加深圳文博会、深圳艺穗节、深港建筑双年展，多次受邀举办个人作品展览。

1. Coolest place you’ve been sent for work ? 工作中去过的最有意思的地方是哪里？

I think Osaka, Japan. I met Alex Wang at the exhibition there, but just briefly. We didn’t know each other well at that time. I was organizing exhibitions with my friends during the day, and it was fun to roam the streets and eat out at night. It’s a place I’ve dreamed of going since I was a child, because I really love Japanese manga, and every street in Osaka was just like I imagined— exquisite.

应该是日本大阪了。我那次去办画展认识了alex wang 但是只是打招呼那时候我们并不熟。那时候我和朋友们一起白天做展览，晚上到处去逛去吃东西一切都觉得很好玩。是我从小就梦想去的地方，因为我真的太喜欢日本的动画漫画了，感觉每一条街道都是那么的精致。

2. What you wanted to be when you grew up? 当你还是个孩子的时候，你梦想成为什么？

Just who I am now. When I was a kid, I always wanted to be an artist, and I enjoy it now. I try my best to paint every day, and the only thing I’m not satisfied with, is that I’m not famous enough. Maybe I would have led even better life.

就像现在这样。我小时候就一直很想长大了能做一个画家，我想我现在做到了。我也很享受现在的状态，所以我每天都很努力的画画不想辜负了这一切。不过有一点我还不是很满意的就是我觉得我不够出名，不然也许我可以过的更好，哈哈哈。

3. Your main strength as a creative person? 作为一个创意人，你的主要优点是什么?

I think my main strength is probably diligence. I always thought I wasn’t very talented at art, but I really love painting and I want to paint every day. I see a lot of things I want to paint, and it’s probably this sense of obsession that makes me a little competitive, so I can keep painting and still make a living from it.

我觉得我的主要优点可能是我比较勤奋吧。我一直觉得在艺术这方面我不是很有天赋，但是我真的很热爱画画，每天都想画。看到好多东西我都想画，大概就是这种执着的感觉让我稍微有点竞争力，从而让我可以一直画画，并且还能靠它过生活。

4. Someone else’s creative project that you’ve been envious of lately? 最近有什么别人的创意项目让你觉得羡慕?

One of my favorite artists in China is tango, who has recently held large-scale solo exhibition and made many interesting installations together with the shopping mall. His paintings are also very interesting, always full of philosophical points, and overall, his works are very clever. The feedback he gets from his fans is incredibly enthusiastic. I can say that most of his projects are very interesting and make me envy.

我很喜欢的国内的一个艺术家叫tango, 他最近都做一个自己的大型个展结合shopping mall一起做很多自己的有意思的装置。他的画也很有趣，总是充满了有趣和哲思的点，作品都很聪明和讨巧。而且他的粉丝给的反馈都特别的热情。可以说他的大部分项目我都觉得非常有趣和让我羡慕。

5. Creative person who inspires you? 一位给你灵感的创意人是谁？

There’s a lot of inspiring artists I like, who I discover flipping instagram every day. But if I had to chose one, who’s left the deepest impression on me— that’s James Jaen. He has an amazing talent. Every time I look at his works, it feels there’s no subject that he hasn’t done yet. Each work is shocking. At the same time, he’s working very hard, and for me, he’s like a beacon in my life, making me believe in the power of painting.

我觉得蛮多艺术家都很喜欢，我会在ins上天天看他们的作品，很激励我。

不过一定要选一位影响我最深的应该是James Jaen。他真的是天才中的天才，每次看他的作品就觉得没有他画不来的题材。每次的新作总是能震撼到我，而且他还非常努力，我觉得他就是我一生的灯塔，让我相信绘画的力量。
