Fashion stylist & lecturer 时尚造型师 时尚讲师
Based in Shanghai, Alice studied fashion design in Instituto Marangoni Milan, researching history of fashion styling, visual styling and personal image aesthetics. Later she became a lecturer there and at Makeup Forever, and worked as a styling instructor for Celine, Coach, Chloe, Dunhill and other brands.
My current work has several directions, for example visual styling for magazines or brand advertising photo shooting. As a stylist, I’m mainly responsible for choosing clothing that enhances the aesthetic language, and can convey a story, assisting the picture.
Sometimes, according to the requirements of projects, I also do the work of costume design and production, special series costumes or with specific stage effect.

In addition, I work as a fashion lecturer, and it’s a privilege to research about fashion from an academic perspective, systematically summarizing fashion trends. As an educator, I can help guide students to cultivate their aesthetics and start creating.
I can also draw fashion illustration, as I believe fashion illustration is very similar to styling— it’s all visual work, but illustration uses color as medium to paint a picture, and styling uses clothes. I’d say my style can be characterized by exaggerated elements, vibrant fresh colors, and different proportions that are harmonized to achieve desired effect.
Character styling sometimes is challenging, as the person factor makes visual expression more hierarchical, people have feeling and emotions that come into play. Sometimes, it’s not about pursuing ideal, but letting the “imperfect” bring out the image and character, a story. Clothing just helps to emphasize that.

One of my favorite shoots was in Paris. I loved the process because everything was improvised and “playful”. The day before the shooting, the photographer and I met three interesting people in Paris subway and asked them if they would like to go to my friend’s showroom with me tomorrow to take some pictures. We filmed on the street as we changed and passers-by would interact with us and offer us props

I like photographs that have a character, a story. In the end, surprisingly the photos from that shoot ended up on the cover of an independent Paris magazine.
As to my personal style, I don’t think I have a particular one, and I enjoy matching clothes according to my mood and inspiration. I also like to add elements of different styles and times. Sometimes an outfit can can bring out a different character in you, a different energy.
You just need to remember in the moment to love the real you who’s wearing it, and enjoy.
1. Favorite movie of all time? 有史以来你最喜欢的电影是哪一部？
Grand Budapest hotel, I’ve watched it maybe 20 times already.
Wes Anderson commemorates a beautiful era that will never come back with a fairy tale vibe and comedy. Every time I watch this movie, I feel I go back to that dream for a short time. I also recommend the original book “Yesterday’s World” which pays tribute to the film.
Grand Budapest hotel, 我看了应该有20遍

The smell of a match going out. The smell of anything burning in nature

Legendary authors and the clothes they wore
They are not so called fashion people or fashion idols. Those authors’ signature looks will become a legend together with their well-know work, while they spreading their thoughts, and inspired many fashion designers. In my opinion, Style is not about trend or fashion, it’s about who you are.
